McCarty Louisa Jane Duren was born in 1846 in Wayne County, Tennessee, and married Edward M. McCarty, a Confederate veteran, who was the son of Nicholas and Sarah McCarty. They were married in Fulton County, Arkansas, in 1867 and moved to Marion County with her parents. Ed McCarty died in early 1914 at his home in the Cowan Barrens. After his death Jane McCarty lived with her daughter, Kate Hamlet, in Yellville until her death in 1917. They are buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Yellville and were the parents of four children. These are: James Levi who married Mary Tennessee Thompson. He died in 1946 and she died in 1955, after they had reared 13 children in Marion County. Donna Levada McCarty married Thomas G. Angel and they were the parents of three children: Fern Angel Tipton, Clyde Angel McVey and John Angel. Robert Oscar McCarty married Lura Catherine Dodd; Abbie Jane McCarty married Troy Edgar Cowdrey; Catherine Gertrude (Kate) McCarty married Ebb Horner Carson; Clyde Thompson McCarty married Georgia Layton; James Roy McCarty married Lucy Lee; Minnie Mabel McCarty married Arthur Holland; Clarence Edward McCarty married Madelyn Murphy; Guy McCarty died when 1 year old; Claude McCarty died at age 3; Ammon Verl McCarty; Jimmie McCarty married Lee Madden; Daniel (Dan) McCarty; Mary Catherine (Kate) married George Hamlet. They had three sons: Wally who married Zula Keeter; Oren; and Arthur who married Myra Horner. Sarah Lela McCarty married Thomas (Tom) Sasser and they had six children: Bertha, Fenna, Gertrude, Charles, Alma and Floyd. John Gerty McCarty married Rosa Rudick and they had eight children: Vera McCarty Watts, Vernon, Serepta, Edward, Mildred, Louise, Bobbie and James Gerty McCarty.
Margaret Duren was born in 1851 in Wayne County, Tennessee, and about 1869 married William R. (Dick) Wood of Marion County. He was the son of William A. and Margaret Wood. Margaret and Dick Wood were the parents of: James M.; William Carroll who married a Miss Carson; Ninian W. (Nin) who married Electra Crane; Margaret; Paul who married a Miss Patterson; Essie; Edna; Worling; Effie; and Cam.
