Uriah Hand and his wife, Affa Asenath Brewer Hand, came to the area around Charlotte, North Carolina, during the Revolutionary War. Their son, Aaron Hand, married Rebecca Henry, daughter of Moses Henrv, who was mortally wounded in the Battle of King's Mountain during the Revolution.
Hugh Berry Hand (1808-1865) was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina. He was the son of Aaron and Rebecca Hand. He migrated to Perry County, Tennessee where he married Annie Choat, daughter of Darius and Elizabeth Dobbs Choat. They were the parents of: Elizabeth Rebecca who married Thomas F. Travis; William H. (Tip) who married Margaret Moreland; Ephraim Foster who married Sarah Agnes (Sallie) Adams in McLennan County, Tennessee in 1867. She (Sallie) was the daughter of George M. Adams. Thomas, son of Aaron and Rebecca Hand, was killed by bush-whackers during the Civil War; White Lafayette (Fate) who married, first, Mary Tunstall and, second, Sarah Suggs; Leander who was unmarried; Isabelle who married a Savage, first, and later J. W.Colsten.
Ephraim Foster Hand was born in Perry, County, Tennessee, at Harrisburg in 1844. His father, Hugh B. Hand, came to Marion County in 1852. In 1853, he made a crop just below town and in 1854 bought land thirteen miles from Yellville near Buffalo City. Hugh B. Hand is buried in Shiloh graveyard in Jackson County, Arkansas. His wife, Annie Choate Hand, died in Limestone County, Texas, and is buried there.
Foster Hand, his mother, Annie Choate Hand, and her children together with his grandmother Choat, moved to Texas after the Civil War. His grandmother died on the way to Texas and his mother died in Texas. While there he met and married Sllie Adams, and John Henry Hand was born there in 1870. Befoe 1873 Foster Hand was back in Marion County where the other children were born. They are: John Henry who married Mollie Montgomery; Minnie Elizabeth who married Thomas Jefferson Williams; Antoynette R. (Nettie) who married, first, Austin H. Fee and, later, Robert Quinn; Thomas Foster who married Annie Laura Lefevers, daughter of Robert Stanley Lefevers and Laura Dulcenia (Dullie) Wiggins Lefevers.
John Henry Hand, son of Ephraim Foster, remained in Marion County and reared a large family. He and his wife lived near Yellville. Their children married and moved away. They are: Grady, whose first wife was Della Emery and, second wife was Freida _________; Roy who married Tot DePriest; Agnes who married Emil Rondat, a Canadian; Roney who married Lizzie Adams; Dollie married Frank Stewart; Pearl married Tom Simmons. Bert and Bertha were twins. Bert's wife was Violoet Flippin and Bertha married Stacy C. Roberts. Bess married Fay Dollar; Gene married ______; and George married Augusta Morris.
William H. (Tip) Hand, son of Hugh Berry Hand, married Margaret Moreland and their son -- Hugh Berry Hand, father of Wordie; Edna Graham Libby (Mrs. George Dean); William Eldridge who married Ruth Cherry; Velma (Mrs. Burley Craid); Florence (Mrs. Dan Neal); and Ruby (Mrs. Jim Campbell). Velma's sons, John Burley, Jr., and Jimmy Lee grew up in Yellville.
"Tip" Hand had two daughters, Eugenia and Dora. Eugenia married George Gentry and their children were: Ernie, Dora and Bertha. The other daughter, Dora, married John Dickerson. They were the parents of one child, Albert. Dr. Ware was the attending physician and, when the mother died, the boy was adopted by Dr. Ware and grew up under the name of Albert Ware.
