Hamlet


The Hamlets have been in Marion County since 1842. Abner Hamlet and his wife, Sarah Inge Hamlet, came from Virginia by way of Kentucky and located in Cowan Barrens where they reared their family that was made up of: Edwin, Richard, George, Billy and Narcissus who married James Wickersham.

Billy Hamlet married Anne Adams and they were the parents of: Worth who married Minnie Gilliam and their children are Wayne who died in infancy, Eva, Roy, Reola who died when 12, Flo, Lou, Hester, Bill, Anna, Keith and Helen. Eva married Albert Ware; Roy married Mae Jones; Flo married Truman Morrow; Hester married Leo Morrow; Bill married Douglas Keeter; Anna married Jewell Morrow; Keith married Demoia Keeter; and Helen married a Mr. Savage.

Of these children only three are living in Marion County, Leo and Hester lived here for a few years and moved to Harrison. They have a son, Paul Dean. Bill and Douglas have three children: Dale, Jimmy Dean, and Linda. Keith and Demoia are the parents of Avanell and Larry. Jewell and Anne have four children: Kenneth, Tommy, Patsy, and Anne.
