Jim Dodd, father of Sterling Price Dodd, came to Marion County during the Civil War and located on Lee's Mountain. Of course, the journey west was made in covered wagons.
Sterling Price Dodd married Marilda Strickland and they were the parents of: Knox, Elvira, Ethel, Bingham, Jenkins, Arbie, Chloe, Hoyt, and Gladys. Five of these are now living. Bingham lives in the Snow community in Marion County; Chloe lives at Hannibal, Missouri; Arbie, Hoyt and Gladys live in Yellville.
Arbie married, first, Flem Stokes and they had a son, Rue, who married Lucille Roberts. Second, Arbie was married to a McMindes and they had a daughter, Anna Jane. Third, Arbie married Pierce Dobbs.
Hoyt married Madge Brown and they had one son, Dennis, who lives in Mountain Home.
Gladys is the wife of Con Blankenship and they have one son, Glenn. Elvira (Vira) married Grover Cleveland Cline and their children were: Ulis, Alsey, Esther and Faye. Alsey is the wife of Hamlet Stanley and is the mother of Connie, a librarian at Eureka Springs High School. Esther and Faye, both unmarried, live on Highway 62, a few miles west of Yellville.
