The Carson family in Marion County was a large one. The head of the family was Rube Carson (wife's name unknown). His children were: Myra (Mrs. Robert (Bob) Morrow); Will Carson who married a Miss Bench by whom he had several children and his second wife was Tennie Doshier (no children); Frank who married Etta ("Ette") Dillahunty. They had four or five children. Frank taught school for several years and later was associated with the Miners and Citizens Bank. Fannie married Harve Staggs; Oscar married Lou Smith. Oscar began teaching in the Yellville School and several years later became Superintendent of the old Yellville High School. One child, perhaps two, made up the family. They moved to southern Arkansas where he continued teaching. After his wife died, he married a nurse, whose name is not available.
Elnora was the wife of, first, Eugene Phillips, by whom she was the mother of two daughters. After the death of her husband, she married Ratio Record. Alice was the wife of Marvin Patterson and they had several children. Ken married Martha Firestone and had two children. Pet married Ollie Reed; Ebb married Kate McCarty and they were the parents of two boys; Gipson (Gip) married Orpha Sims and there were two children; and Ellen married Bob Dillahunty.
Names of many of the children are known, but since so many are not known, the children have been omitted.
Aaron Carson was born in North Carolina in 1848 and came to Arkansas, Marion County, in the early 1880's. At that time his daughter Emma was twelve years old. Emma married General Evans. There were four of the Carson brothers: Aaron, James Patrick, Will, and Marson, and a sister Lou ,who married a Cochran. She had one son, John Cochran.
James Patrick's grandchildren were: Effie (Mrs. Hobart) Allen; Ethel (Mrs. Ralph) Pascoe; and Anna Lee (Mrs. Rolfe) Richardson.
This family is not related to the Rube Carson family.
