John Alford Family

John and Mattie Alford came to Marion County in 1880 from somewhere in Missouri, having moved there from South Carolina after the Civil War. Uncle John, as he was called by all, had been a soldier in the Confederate Army.

John and Mattie Alford settled on a farm where the present town of Flippin is now located. Alford Street in Flippin was named for John Alford.

John and Mattie were members of the Baptist Church. Their children were: Ida who married Eben Wood; Nancy Jane, who married Elliot Daffron; and Lilly, who married Emery Noe.
